In total, 592 individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19

As of the morning of 9 March, hospital treatment is being provided to 592 individuals who have been infected with COVID-19. A total of 245 patients who have COVID-19 are currently receiving hospital treatment after having developed severe symptoms, including 154 patients or 62.9% of the overall figure who have not been vaccinated, and 91 patients or 37.1% who have been fully vaccinated.

The average hospitalisation rate for the last seven days for every 100,000 members of the country's vaccinated population is 1.9 people a day, while for the unvaccinated population the figure is 5.4.

Ninety new COVID-19 cases have been opened by hospitals within the past 24 hours; in 28 of those cases, the patients required hospitalisation due to symptomatic COVID-19. On average within the past ten days, 31 new patients each day who exhibit signs of symptomatic COVID-19 infection have been hospitalised. Twelve deaths have been added of individuals who were infected by COVID-19, involving a 55 year-old man, a 65 year-old man, a 69 year-old woman, a 75 year-old man and a 75 year-old woman, a 79 year-old man, an 81 year-old woman, an 88 year-old woman, a 90 year-old woman, and also a 91 year-old man and a 91 year-old woman. Eight of those individuals had not been vaccinated.

The last 24 hours have also seen 5,997 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of 2,874 were positive. The average infection rate for the last seven days for every 100,000 members of the country's vaccinated population is 181.2, while for the unvaccinated population the figure is 224.2.

A total of 766 vaccine doses have been administered over the past 24 hours, with 78 individuals receiving their first injections. As of this morning, 435,334 individuals had received their additional or booster doses. Of the total population in Estonia, 63.2% have received two vaccine doses.

Monday morning saw a grand total of 150 COVID-19 patients who required hospitalisation. Based on the results from wastewater monitoring, the spread of the virus is at the orange risk level to the extent of approximately 52% of the country.

Based on the results from wastewater monitoring in week 36, the spread of the virus is at the orange risk level to the extent of approximately 55% of the country.
