In total, 315 individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19

As of the morning of 19 January, hospital treatment is being provided to 315 individuals who have been infected with COVID-19. A total of 223 patients who have COVID-19 are currently receiving hospital treatment after having developed serious symptoms, including 178 patients who have not been vaccinated (which covers 80% of the overall figure), and forty-five patients who have been fully vaccinated (which amounts to 20% of the overall figure).

Forty-two new COVID-19 cases have been opened by hospitals within the past 24 hours. Three new deaths have been added within the same period, including a 70 year-old man, an 84 year-old woman, and an 89 year-old man. None of those individuals had been vaccinated.

The last 24 hours have also seen 10,963 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of 3,159 were positive. The average infection rate for the last seven days for every 100,000 members of the countrys vaccinated population is 144.3, while for the unvaccinated population the figure is 220.4.

A total of 4,640 vaccine doses have been administered over the past 24 hours, with 469 individuals receiving their first injections. As of this morning, 350,579 individuals had received their additional or booster doses. Of the total population in Estonia, 62% are fully vaccinated.

As of Monday morning a total of 124 individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19

Monday morning’s COVID-19 report is able to state that a total of 124 individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19, and the incidence of COVID-19 cases has decreased amongst those who are over sixty years of age. Hanna Sepp, head of the Health Board’s Department of Infectious Diseases, said that last week it was mainly people who belonged to a risk group who were being analysed on the basis of a referral from a family doctor, with 1,126 of the total number of 11,968 tests turning out to be positive.
