In total, 152 individuals are being treated in hospital due to symptomatic COVID-19

As of the morning of 25 April, hospital treatment is being provided to 152 individuals who have been infected with COVID-19. A total of sixty-one patients who have COVID-19 are currently receiving hospital treatment after having developed severe symptoms, including thirty-five patients or 57.4% of the overall figure who have not been vaccinated, and twenty-six patients or 42.6% who have been fully vaccinated.

The average hospitalisation rate for the last seven days for every 100,000 members of the country’s vaccinated population is 0.5 people a day, while for the unvaccinated population the figure is 1.6.

Twenty-one new COVID-19 cases have been opened by hospitals within the past 24 hours; in two of those cases, the patients required hospitalisation due to symptomatic COVID-19. On average within the past seven days, 6.6 new patients each day who exhibit signs of symptomatic COVID-19 infection have been hospitalised. Two deaths have been added of individuals who were infected by COVID-19, involving a 57 year-old man and a 102 year-old woman.

The last 24 hours have also seen 1,587 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of 148 were positive. The average infection rate in the last seven days for every 100,000 members of the country’s vaccinated population is twenty, and for the unvaccinated population the figure is twenty-six.

A total of sixty-five vaccine doses have been administered over the past 24 hours, with fifteen individuals receiving their first injections. As of this morning, 451,745 individuals have received their additional or booster doses. Of the total population in Estonia, 63.5% have received two vaccine doses.

In week fifteen, a total of 3,184 people fell ill with acute respiratory infections, of whom 38.4% were children. The overall incidence of acute respiratory viral diseases increased by 39%.

In week fourteen, a grand total of 2,297 people fell ill with acute respiratory infections. Overall, 36.4% of all of the new cases involved children. The number of new cases decreased by a third.
