COVID-19 blog, 10 June: fifty-four new positive test results have been added within the past 24 hours

The last 24 hours have seen 3,491 tests being analysed in Estonia in relation to coronavirus, of which the results of fifty-four (1.5%) of the initial tests were positive. A full 13,482 vaccine doses were also administered within the past 24 hours. In total, 512,247 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Estonia, and 317,197 individuals have received both doses. A total of 47.3% of the entire adult population has received at least one vaccine dose.

Based on the data in the population register, the highest number of new positive test results came from Harju County, where twenty-four further individuals were found to have been infected. A total of eighteen of the new cases in Harju County were from Tallinn.

A further nine new positive coronavirus test results were added from Ida-Viru County, five from Pärnu County, four from Rapla County, three from Võru County, two from Viljandi County, and one each from Hiiu County, Lääne County, Põlva County, and Tartu County. No new cases were added from any of the remaining counties. On three occasions the places of residence of those individuals who tested positive were not specified in the population register.

The number of cases for every 100,000 people in the last fourteen days is 90.20, and 2.2% of all initial tests have been found to be positive.

Two new COVID-19 cases have been opened within the past 24 hours, and sixty-two patients are being treated in hospital

As of the morning of 10 June, hospital treatment is being supplied to sixty-two patients who have COVID-19. Nine of those patients require intensive care, with six patients on a ventilator. Hospitals opened two new COVID-19 cases overall.

In total, 6.9% of all individuals who have tested positive have required hospital treatment. The average age of those patients who are being treated in hospital is 68. All told, forty-four of those patients who require hospital treatment are over the age of sixty (71.0% of the overall figure).

One new coronavirus death was registered within the past 24 hours, involving an 85 year-old woman. Coronavirus has claimed the lives of 1,266 people in Estonia in total.

In total, 512,247 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Estonia

As of this morning, a total of 512,247 individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19, of whom 195,050 individuals have received one dose, and 317,197 individuals have received both doses. Of that total, 13,482 vaccine doses were administered over the past 24 hours, and 791,709 vaccine doses have been administered overall.

Vaccination against COVID-19 is now available for anyone who is at least sixteen years of age. Time slots for vaccination against COVID-19 can be booked via the eBooking system or by calling the central phone number (1247) between 08:00 and 20:00. New time slots are being added into the system based on the arrival of fresh vaccine deliveries.
